From the hidden glacial deposits of the pristine British Columbia coast comes the amazing Glacial Marine Clay: the world’s premium clay that rejuvenates the skin to a youthful look. Found in a remote inlet of northwestern Canada, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean in this uninhabited wilderness, it is from this naturally guarded area that the treasured green/grey glacial marine clay is found in rare deposits. With more than 40 minerals, micronutrients and trace minerals this glacial clay is composed of particles as fine as mist. The particle size of the clay is less than 0.15 of a micron, meaning that it is absorbed into the skin to deliver its nutrients directly into the dermis. Glacial marine clay has a pH factor of 6.5 to 7.3, close to neutral, which is desirable for skin and hair applications. With the addition of moisture and other ingredients such as glycerin or floral hydrosols it can be used to exfoliate skin cells, stimulate blood circulation, rejuvenate tired complexion and renew skin elasticity; leaving your skin refreshed, alive and glowing. Glacial Marine Clay is an excellent therapeutic and cosmetic clay and is frequently used in facial and body masks, poultices and salves. A silky warm gray colour when wet, it dries in fifteen to twenty minutes (depending on the thickness of application) to a light aqua-marine hue.
To begin your skin cleanse or mask:
Mix in your hand or a small glass bowl one to two tablespoon clay with 1-2 teaspoon (or more) hydrosol, aloe vera juice, yogurt (for extra moisture and exfoliation), milk (for extra nourishment), fresh organic fruit juice (for more of a gentle spa-like fruit acid peel) or water. You may need more liquid to form a smooth spreadable paste-like consistency. Allow the mixture to thicken for one minute. Add more liquid if its’ too thick or more clay, mud or oatmeal if it’s too thin. Apply with a brush or with your fingers, massage onto the face, throat and décolleté with an upward and outward circular motion, avoiding the delicate eye area.
To use as a cleanser:
Rinse off immediately with warm water while scrubbing gently with a wash cloth, then spray your favourite hydrosol or toner over cleansed area, and as a final skin treat - massage your face, throat, décolleté or body with a good oil (jojoba, argan, marula) and then apply your favorite moisturizer.
To use as a mask:
allow clay, mud or oatmeal to dry completely for 20 to 30 minutes, preferably while you are lying down. Don’t scrub away at your face to remove the mask, instead use a wet cloth to remove the cleanser. Wash off with a wash cloth that you have soaked in warm water, place over your face and allow the mask to absorb the water. Rinse well with warm water, while scrubbing gently with a wash cloth, then spray your favourite hydrosol or toner over cleansed area, and as a final skin treat - massage your face, throat, décolleté or body with a good oil (jojoba, argan, marula) and then apply your favorite moisturizer.
