Medicine Spirit Bag
A medicine bag is an ancient item that spiritually represents the person who wears it.
The reasons to carry a medicine bag are for guidance, healing and protection. Traditionally, a medicine bag contains something from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms and from the life of man.
What the bag contains is sacred and good medicine for you. Medicine bags are symbols connected to personal protection and power. A personal Medicine Bag was not for healing others but to maintain personal harmony - with the physical, spiritual, and supernatural. The reasons to carry a medicine bag are for guidance, healing and protection.
Some wear a small medicine bag around the neck, under clothing, or on a belt or saddle or carry it in a purse, pocket, knapsack or briefcase. Some people sleep with their medicine bag under their pillows.
These little bags are made from deer hide from Alberta, where the whole animal has been used. Each bag has been blessed with ceremonial smoke and the great deer spirit thanked.
